8 people missing following helicopter crash

A helicopter with 16 on board has crashed in the North Sea as it was returning from the BP Miller oil platform.

The accident happened at around 2pm on Wednesday the 1st of April, 14 miles from Peterhead, off the Aberdeenshire Coast. 

A major rescue operation was launched and 8 bodies were recovered and taken back to Aberdeen Harbour.

The search resumed for the 8 people feared dead at the first light this morning.

Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond is said to be shocked and saddened by the accident.
