Large holiday firm XL goes into administration
Tens of thousands of Britons have been stranded abroad after XL Leisure group went into administration.
XL were the UK's third largest package holiday group. Part of the group XL airlines, fly to over 50 destinations and as a result of the firm going into administration all aircraft have been grounded leaving many holidaymakers stranded.
Around 200,000 people who have booked flights with XL have been told to make other arrangements.
The CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) is currently arranging the safe return of the 70,000 people who are now stranded abroad.
In a statement on the website, XL said that the company suffered due to volatile fuel prices, the economic downturn and were unable to obtain more funding.
