Man is Killed after Falling from Hotel Balcony in Turkey

A 22 year old man from Llangynwyd died of multiple injuries after he fell five floors from his hotel balcony in Turkey.

He had been staying in the resort of Icmeler with his girlfriend.  As they returned to their apartment the young man went onto the balcony the next thing she remembers is being woken up by hotel staff, and told that her boyfriend had fallen from the balcony.

The young man sustained severe head injuries and died following emergency surgery on a brain hemorrhage.  A verdict of accidental death was recorded by the coroner.

The parents of the man have said that the incident highlights the issue of balcony safety in holiday hotels, and that steps must to be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Holidaymakers should be aware that safety standards and building regulations differ from country to country.  It is therefore important to take care in potentially dangerous locations, especially with young children.
